markbyron, or Mark, is the founder of TotalFreedom, who served as its Owner from November 2010 to June 2017.

He ruled with an iron fist, often silencing staff members who misbehaved, and dismissing any dissent as "drama".

In the first half of 2017, he grew sick of the server's atmosphere and hastily transferred ownership to the Executive Security Officer, TheMinecraft, before officially retiring from a position of power in late 2018.

Since then, he has shown a distaste for the server and its community over its negative atmosphere, but continued to control the domain and its CloudFlare credentials, so owners were compelled to keep themselves and the server in his good graces. Mark finally cut himself off from TotalFreedom entirely when he transferred the domain to Wild1145 instead of renewing it in September 2021.

History

2010 - markbyron creates TotalFreedom

Mark was introduced to Minecraft by Madgeek1450, a friend of his from Second Life. Seeing the potential of a Minecraft server, he created what would become TotalFreedom on November 11, 2010. At the time, it was an 8 player slot server and was divided into two separate servers: "Hell" and "Earth".

2011 - End of the Nether server

In May 2011, the release of Beta 1.6 made it possible to teleport to and from the Nether and Earth worlds in Multiplayer servers. As a result, he scrapped the Nether server and kept the Earth server.

2017 - Controversies and stepping down

Mark's announcement about temporarily closing the server.

Fed up with the atmosphere the server had at the time, Mark closed the server down on May 21, 2017 for a whole day and posted a thread on the forums about the whole situation, threatening to close the server as a whole if the atmosphere did not clear up.
