To prevent disruption to the wiki, certain functions and pages are restricted to users with certain user groups. These user groups can either be assigned by an administrator, or automatically granted by the MediaWiki software.
Overview
Unregistered visitors are a part of the *
group, and users with a registered account are also part of the user
group. Users are automatically promoted into the autoconfirmed
pseudo-group after they have made ten edits over a period of four days.
User groups
A list of system-generated technical permissions is available at Special:ListGroupRights.
Automatically granted groups
Unregistered users
Unregistered users may view any article on the wiki, but may not edit until they have registered an account.
Registered users
Registered users have the ability to edit most pages on the wiki immediately after registration.
Autoconfirmed users
Some pages may be protected from editing due to high visibility or vandalism. Users with the autoconfirmed
pseudo-group may edit pages that are semi-protected, such as the Main Page.
